Cruinniu na mbad 2014 - race day

A dream came true for me yesterday, when I got the chance to photograph Galway Hookers racing from a boat. A big thanks to Jude from Ribwest in Kinvara for bringing me a place on his rib.

The race, which normally takes places on the last day of Cruinniu festival, had to be postponed due to bad weather conditions on the day.

The conditions were absolutely perfect yesterday, and here are some impressions from yesterdays race.

9am in Kinvara, getting ready for the race

Setting sail

Kinvara's skyline:)

Just before the start

An we are off!

Time to say hello to the crews

Race day traffic

Racing it out

One of my favourite shots from yesterday...

Another favourite of mine

But back to the race....the An Tonai won it!

Well done guys!

And off they go, back to Rossaveal....

And that was it from this years race. I'd love to do the same thing again next year!

P.S. This is probably my all time favourite Cruinniu picture, taken in 2012, three boats sailing in Kinvara bay.
