The Burren National Park is located on the eastern side of the Burren between the villages of Carron in the north and Kilnaboi in the east. The easiest way to get to the National Park is from Kilnaboi. It is also possible to reach the park from Kinvara or Carron, but I recommend the approach from Kilnaboi. It is unfortunate that the route to Mullaghmore isn't properly sign posted, this is really something that the National Park service should look into.
There were rumors last year that Mullaghmore could feature as a location in one of the new Star Wars movies that are being filmed at the moment. Looking at the landscape around Mullaghmore, the terrain really does look like something you'd expect to see on the moon.
There are several very well sign posted trails around Mullaghmore.
Its near impossible to get lost around Mullaghmore. There are signs everywhere. Uphill!
I just love them....a Hawthorn tree along the way
Some sections of the walk can be quite steep, so good shoes are a must. Up this way...
On top of the world. Well, not quite, Mullaghmore is only 180m above sea level
Views from the top
On the way back it takes about 2-2.5hrs to walk the Mullaghmore loop.
That's it for today. Now really is a good time to go to the Burren, since the landscape is starting to bloom.
