The Saltees

Two weeks ago I had the chance to visit Great Saltee, the bigger one of the two Islands that make up the Saltee Islands. Together with a group of friends from Galway Camera Club, I got to spent a couple of hours on Great Saltee.

Click on the pictures to see them bigger.

We arrived on the Island around 12:30, and the plan was, to stay on the Island until 5:30. Unfortunately, the weather on the day didn't agree with our plan...

On the boat to the Saltees

The island is covered in bluebells! That's one thing I didn't expect, I always thought bluebells only grow in forests.

The bird colonies are located on the eastern side of the island.

From pretty much the same spot, looking eastwards

We visited the Skellig Islands last year, and the gannet colony on Little Skellig was a very impressive sight. But, this is view is even more impressive!

Air traffic over the site

Someone landed in the wrong spot...

Even the neighbors join in.

Feeling a bit lost....

Hello?

Love birds

Tango time!

A little smile? No? Ok....

Back with the shopping.

Doing his best Dolphin impression.

That's it for today, I'll post more images from the Saltees next week. Feel free to leave a comment, thanks, back next week.....
